Vanessa Hernandez Kemmy's Background
While at St. Mary’s School of Law, Vanessa was the proud recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship. She was chosen for the Retired Chief Justice Alma L. Lopez Woman in Law Leadership Award as an exemplary student who maintained honor, integrity, and personal authenticity in educational pursuits, personal life, and career goals, as well as providing advocacy on behalf of low-income, battered, and abused women and children. Additionally, Vanessa interned with private firms and with a sitting State Senator while in law school. Vanessa also received a Community Service Certificate upon graduating for an exceptional number of hours devoted to bettering her community. Vanessa has continued this devotion to pro bono work to this day as a proud participant in the San Antonio Bar Association’s free legal clinics available to the San Antonio community.
After graduating from law school, Vanessa spent five years working for the largest publicly-traded bank headquartered in San Antonio. As such, Vanessa spent years in a leadership role for her organization, working with upper management on a daily basis to maintain the company’s compliance with regulatory laws, rules, and regulations. After leaving the company, Vanessa joined a San Antonio law firm and developed skills that have become critical to the practice she has to this day. She was recently selected as a member of the inaugural class of the Bexar County Women’s Bar Foundation’s LEAD Academy, and enjoyed her time as a member of Leadership San Antonio, Class 39. Vanessa has recently decided to follow in her family’s footsteps and open a practice dedicated to bettering the lives of her clients.
