Burn Injury Cases We Handle
Often severe burns are seen in auto accidents, where the force can break open gas lines or the gas tank and a spark ignite a fire. Burns also happen regularly in house fires or due to chemical and electrical exposure at work.
Serious burns caused by workplace accidents might be covered by workers’ compensation. But if a third party, like a contractor, building owner or manager, acted negligently, a separate burn injury lawsuit could be filed against the responsible party.
If you’ve suffered from any of these injuries or accidents, get experienced legal advice from experienced burn injury attorneys who not only know about insurance, New Mexico law, and litigation, but also the medical and psychological issues that come hand in hand with serious burn injuries.
The Kemmy Firm not only helps you obtain fair compensation, but we’re here to help make sure a single incident doesn’t define your life.
Burn Injury Treatment
After initial first aid, if you have a severe burn you may receive,
- Water-based treatments (ultrasound mist therapy to clean and stimulate the wound tissue)
- Fluids to prevent dehydration
- Pain and anxiety medications
- Burn creams and ointments
- Specialty wound dressings
- Drugs to prevent or treat infections
Depending on where you were burned, you may need,
- Help with breathing
- To use a feeding tube
- Have incisions made to large burn scabs,
- Skin grafts (a surgical procedure where sections of healthy skin are used to replace the scar tissue caused by deep burns)
- Plastic surgery to improve your appearance and improve the flexibility of joints affected by scarring
Part of the treatment may be use of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) in a hyperbaric chamber. Given within the first 48 to 72 hours of a serious burn, HBO therapy increases the oxygen saturation in the body, which speeds up the recovery process.
